SUMMER SCHOOL 2014 – DAY FIVE

And so it’s all over! We made it through the week, and what was a great, lumbering show, became a beautiful, inspiring, magical piece of theatre, and an absolutely stunning performance took place this afternoon! Magic was created in a dusty school hall…..A HUGE HUGE WELL DONE to all the fantastic actors on stage this afternoon, I feel immensely proud of you all… You were brilliant! A huge thanks to three members of our lovely committee, Paula, Sophie and Cat, who served refreshments and washed up 60 mugs! It really made the afternoon very special…..Very special thanks to Patrick, our fantastic Musical Director, who once again pulled out all the stops and supported us throughout the week…….Thanks to Kaitlin Howard for a great stage combat workshop on Tuesday, Lucy Dixon for spending time with us on Wednesday, All Saints School for allowing us to use the hall, and a big thank you to everyone who attended this afternoon…. It made it all very special….Have a great summer and we’re back in September…..See you then!

SUMMER SCHOOL 2014 – DAY THREE

As we push on with rehearsals, the signs of tiredness are beginning to show…..A welcome relief then that we are joined at the end of the day by the lovely Lucy Dixon. Lucy spent several years in Waterloo Road and Hollyoaks, and has just finished filming Scott & Bailey. Lucy watched rehearsals, had lots of photos taken, and then took part in a Q&A….Brilliant! Huge thanks to Lucy……..And so, we have two days left to get our show to stand on its legs!! Come on!!!

SUMMER SCHOOL 2014 – DAY TWO

Day Two gets off to a violent start as we’re poked in the eye, kicked in the stomach and strangled! All thanks to a fantastic stage combat workshop with fight co-ordinator, Kaitlin Howard……We then press on with the show and make excellent progress with the opening number…….Let’s hope those scripts are gone by Friday! Well done to everyone, we’re heading down the right road!photo (1)

SUMMER SCHOOL 2014 – DAY ONE

DAY ONE: Take an empty school hall, fill with 30 young actors, a script, a piano, two benches, a props table, 3 tutors, and what have you got?? Marple Drama’s Summer School!! We got off to a flying start with some lovely, very funny moments, some beautiful acting, fantastic singing, and a certain craziness thrown in for good measure!
