JULIE HESMONDHALGH WINS NTA!

Huge congratulations to Marple Drama patron, Julie Hesmondhalgh, for her stunning performance in Monday’s Coronation Street, and for winning the National Television Award for Best Serial Drama Performance, brilliant! Julie is currently appearing in Blindsided at The Royal Exchange and is about to begin rehearsing Black Roses, also at The Royal Exchange. It’s gonna be a busy year!!

SUCCESSFUL FUNDING BID…..

Brilliant news!! Marple Drama have just been awarded a grant of £3000!! How good is that!! This will allow us to purchase some much needed sound and film equipment, enable us to work with young actors on television and film craft, and introduce the technical aspects of making drama for the screen…..Very exciting!! A huge thanks to Cat and Julie for their help and support and an extra special thanks to FOREVER MANCHESTER for their very generous award!

AND JUST LIKE THAT, IT’S OVER……..

DAY FIVE: And so we added balloons, and what happened?? Nearly 90 people witnessed the most extraordinary, magical, authentic, genuine, honest, sensitive and memorable show that we have ever had the privilege to be involved with! We are so so proud of all our young actors……. We expected a huge amount from them, supported and guided them through the challenges of the work, gently nudged the boundaries, allowed them to play, and hopefully created a safe, nurturing environment, and in return they have worked tirelessly for five days to reach the point where the doors were opened, an audience seated, and………..and just like that, it’s over…..

A huge HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has been involved in our first summer school and a standing ovation to our 30 young, talented, brilliant, summer school actors!

WE’RE COOKING!

DAY FOUR: How fast has this week gone! The company has a renewed energy and vitality, and as we shake off yesterday’s midweek dip, the heat is turned up and by the end of the day we are cooking! Witnessed some absolutely brilliant work today as the show begins to take on a life of its own, and as we gently let go of the reins, the talent that emerges is sensational!
