THE IT – TICKETS ON SALE

FIRE & STEEL in association with NATIONAL THEATRE CONNECTIONS 2020 & MARPLE DRAMA

Tickets are now on sale for THE IT, by Vivienne Franzmann.

THE IT is a play about a teenage girl who has something growing inside her. Grace doesn’t know what it is, but she knows it’s not a baby. It expands in her body. It starts in her stomach, but quickly outgrows that, until eventually it takes over the entirety of her insides. No one must know about it. Grace has to keep its presence, its possession of her, concealed. She pulls away from her friends. She refuses to speak in case The It is heard. The It tries to escape from her body. She can’t let that happen. Grace cuts an isolated weird figure at school, trying to live her life ‘normally; but battling to keep The It inside of her. But she can’t contain it forever, sooner or later something’s got to give……….

A darkly comic state of the nation play exploring adolescent mental health and the rage within, written very specifically for today.

EMILY ANDERSON

Our first session took place 7 years ago. Since then, hundreds of students have passed through the doors of the old school hall. We want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all our students, past & present, for making the work we do such a joy! Have a great time in class today, enjoy your cake, and here’s to the next 7 years!!

One student who entered the hall on that first day, was the lovely Emily Anderson. Emily took part in The National Theatre Connections Festival, performing three times at The Lowry, and most recently at The Crucible Theatre, Sheffield. She has made numerous cups of tea, cut dozens of birthday cakes, and achieved her LAMDA Gold Medal!

For the last two years Emily has worked alongside Naomi helping the smooth running of the Saturday morning classes. Today is her last day with us………

From everyone at Marple Drama, we want to say a huge HUGE THANK YOU for all your help, support, commitment, dedication, and excellent tea making skills!

You will be missed Emily!!

We wish you every success!!

A lovely way to end our 2018/19 NTC experience…….

We once again recreate the ‘Last Supper’ at HOME, Manchester, before watching another version of ‘FLESH’, performed by Dalton Theatre Company, and then an excellent production of ‘Class’, by Imaginarium Young Actors……..

Here’s to NTC 2019/20!!
